Meet Our Manufacturer: Assisi Garments

These photos and videos were taken on a recent site visit to Assisi Garments where Baby Hero's 100% Organic Collection is manufactured. We have been working with our wonderful suppliers for over a year now but this was our first time meeting the men and women who create our clothes. Contrary to sweat shop images to which we are accustomed, we spent our day walking through a  beautiful facility that exceeds industry labor practices and adheres to the highest environmental standards.

One of the earliest challenges we faced when we started Baby Hero was finding organic and fair trade certified factories making baby clothes under ethical labor practices. The exhaustive process of cold calling and interviewing paid off when we zeroed in on Assisi Garments - an organic, fair-trade factory in Southern India founded by Franciscan Nuns.

Assisi is a social enterprise which prioritises the empowerment of local women and has employed more than 1,500 women so far under pro-women schemes. In addition they use their profits to fund an HIV clinic, cancer treatment facility as well as centres for orphans and a hospital for people with leprosy.
