In April 2015 we applied to the Sustainable Brands Innovation Open, a prestigious global competition which identifies the next generation of better brands contributing to a flourishing future - economically, socially and environmentally. For our small company, the news of our nomination to the preliminary shortlist was an extraordinary validation of the ethical business model we champion everyday.
Our supporters rallied us through the public vote stage securing us a place in the final 11 sustainable brands which meant a chance to present our story before some of the biggest industry leaders in San Diego, California.
We prepped for weeks, pulled a bunch of all-nighters and rooted from the sidelines as Allie boarded the plane to fly out to the conference.
It was another adrenalin rush when Allie's passionate pitch to a closed panel of judges took us into the final round of the Innovation Open. As part of the final competition, Allie presented a concise 4-minute pitch before a packed audience that streamed live globally, ending with a public vote.
We didn't win the grand prize, yet we feel like winners for having made it all the way to the Top 4. To be invited to share a global stage and be a part of the competition in itself was a huge exposure for Baby Hero, a chance to hear and be inspired by some of America's most Sustainable Brands, and the start of many promising conversations.
