Being a mom has its ups and downs, and it can be reassuring to know that there are others the world over who are having similar experiences. At the same time, it can also be fun to take a peek at the lives of moms who have it completely different! Whether it’s with brilliant writing, side-splitting jokes, commitment to a cause or just lots and lots of baby pictures, some moms really know how to keep us coming back to their blogs. We decided to share with you 5 of our top picks in mom and baby blogs from around the world.
1. I am Not The Babysitter, US
When she was regularly mistaken for her adopted son’s babysitter, Jamie began to use her blog to show the world that “families come in all different shapes and sizes.” Jamie fights stereotypes, has launched a non-profit in Ethiopia, is an active proponent of breastfeeding, and even shares baby-related historical facts like the etymological origins of the Caesarian. Follow Jamie’s blog if you want an insight into the life of a not-so-typical mom who’s deeply engaged in a cause.
2. The Stork and the Beanstalk, US
The highlight of this blog is its artsy family photos. Blogger-mama Ashley has a soft spot for all things vintage, which really comes through in the quality of her work. She also puts up videos that just make you want to shimmy with her son Hooper! Follow the Stork and the Beanstalk if you like “photogramoms” with an eye for detail. And don’t miss out on her contests and giveaways!
3. Mother Inc, Singapore
If you’re looking for a blog that’s more of a personal narrative with lots of positive energy and humor thrown in, look no further than Mother Inc! Daphne is the mother of three super active little kids who have, in her own words, “obliterated every last shred of sanity” their parents ever had. Daphne takes us through days with her children whether they are out and about together, or playing dress-up at home. Follow her blog if, more than product reviews and giveaways, you want real life experiences.
4. Busy Bee Mummy Bex, UK
Mom-blogger Bex has to cope with her own Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well as her son Hugo’s talipes (colloquially known as ‘club feet’) – a condition that she found very little information about when he was born a year ago. Bex founded a support group called Happy Feet Talipes and uses her blog to spread awareness about the condition. She also shares her experience with lots of DIY products and the setting up of her flat pack home. Bex reviews baby clothes, accessories, books and food. Follow Bex’s blog for its honest and spontaneous style.
5. Childhood 101, Australia
Childhood 101 is a parenting blog that’s a little distinctive from others on this list because it’s a bigger initiative with a bunch of different contributors. It has sections on every aspect of childcare, from food to games to learning, and we especially love its focus on unique activities for children that are both fun and instructive. Take for example, the homemade Christmas wreath or the magazine lanterns: entertaining for everyone, and also ecological! Another great reason to follow this blog is its innovative parenting tips – “Getting Out The Door on Time Without Saying Hurry Up” is our personal favorite.
