BABY HERO Announces Spring Summer 2015 Collection Featuring Contemporary Ethnic Prints

Continues to gain popularity with its ‘Giving Model’, which funds critical medical supplies to families in need

HONG KONG, October 13, 2014 – Baby Hero, a children’s clothing brand that makes ethical and organic products; today announced the launch of its Spring Summer 2015 line drawing inspiration from the traditional designs and motifs of the Asian subcontinent. With this collection, Baby Hero expands its range of everyday essentials to new onesies and tees for babies and toddlers from birth to 3 years. In its first year of operations, sales funded Neonatal Survival Kits for 900 mothers and babies in rural Pakistan, which has one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates.

“It’s a compelling proposition that fashion has the power to connect customers to communities in need. We wanted to take this idea one step further and showcase motifs and prints representative of the communities with which we work. Our concept for the SS2015 collection comes from centuries old Ikat pattern and the majestic Asian elephant. We added a contemporary edge by interposing the Ikat pattern with playful calligraphy and abstract treatments.” says Alicia Weiser, Co-founder of Baby Hero.

Baby Hero’s core philosophy is ‘Championing a better future for families everywhere’. Co-founder Samar Shaheryar explains, “Our Giving Model means that for every organic product you purchase, we are able to give critical medical supplies for other families in need. The encouraging response to Baby Hero this past year is proof that our target audience - young families and new mothers are looking for a tangible way to rally behind the cause of maternal and infant health.”

The first day of birth is the most dangerous day for women and their babies resulting in nearly half of maternal and newborn deaths and stillbirths. South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa have the highest burden of newborn deaths, with India (779,000), Nigeria (267,000), and Pakistan (202,400) leading the ranks among countries.* The Neonatal kits that Baby Hero funds are aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the regions they are used by 30-40%.

The products are available on and is currently retailing at some of the cities most popular baby stores with an expanding presence at international retailers. Baby Hero’s 100% organic collection starts at HK$195.

BABY HERO launches organic baby clothing line that will fund clean birth kits

New social enterprise aims to help end maternal and infant deaths in the developing world

HONG KONG, October 14, 2013 – Baby Hero, a Hong Kong based social enterprise, today launched its collection of organic and ethically sourced onesie and toddler tees. Every Baby Hero product sold will fund one clean birth kit for an expectant mother and critical medical products for her newborn.

Baby Hero is taking aim at the alarming number of preventable maternal and infant deaths in the developing world. Every day, 800 women die from pregnancy related causes, 99% of them in the developing world, while 3 million worldwide infant deaths occur annually, 80% of them in just 2 regions of the world: Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Baby Hero has partnered with Dr. Shaun Morris, a pediatric infectious disease specialist who has pioneered an easy to distribute and use toolkit for rural areas aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the regions it is used by 30-40%.

Started by two ex-bankers and mothers, Baby Hero was born from a desire to create an ethical baby products company that could fund effective, efficient and low cost interventions in maternal and newborn health. “Our goal is to incorporate giving back though a basic yet essential first product such as a onesie,” says Alicia Weiser, co-founder of Baby Hero. Her partner and co-founder Samar Shaheryar, adds, “When our customers buy a Baby Hero onesie or toddler tee, they set in motion an action that has the potential to save mothers and children.”

The products will be available on their website and will retail at some of the city’s popular baby stores such as Tinyfootprints and Baby Central. The naturally hypoallergenic and extraordinarily breathable organic onesies and toddler tee collection starts at HK$250 and come in a color palette of bright pastels and neutrals.
